Modern Black Side Table - 15.75" x 11.62" x 27.25" - Nightstand, End Table, or Living Room Accent Table - Perfect for Bedroom, Office, or Small Space Decor

We spent a while looking for decently priced nightstands, but nothing came close in price, look/feel, and quality as these nightstands. I was a bit hesitant to purchase them since it was an online purchase and we wouldn't get a chance to see them in person until we already owned them.Turns out, we made the right decision. And just for the record, we purchased this set at $118.Each nightstand came in a separate box. Both were very well packed with plenty of styrofoam and plastic for protection. I'm glad too, because one of the boxes looked pretty beat up with a few dents and even punctures. I was happy to see that when I unwrapped the packaging, there wasn't a scratch on either nightstand.We placed each table on either side of our bed (duh). We own a queen size bed which sits on top of a box spring on top of rails with wheels. The top of the nightstand just about matches the height of our bed, which was perfect for us. Check the dimensions in the Product Details, obviously, if the height is important to you.The finish on the nightstands is of decent quality and had no defects when it arrived. It's definitely a dark finish, darker than the somewhat common "espresso" color, but not jet black. In my opinion, the finish and color looks quite snazzy and modern.One issue is, the drawers are a bit small. While the entire width of the nightstand is 18", the inside width of each drawer is really only about 12". The length of each drawer is about 10" and the depth is about 2". Note, these aren't actual measurements, just my estimates. I'll get around to measuring them and putting in the actual values into this review soon.Regardless, the volume of the drawers is perfect for me since all I need is a place to keep my wallet, watch, pens, a book, gum, chapstick, etc, which all fits into a single drawer.Note that the drawers do not sit on rails, but simply fit snugly into their cavities. So you will be sliding wood on wood when you open and close the drawer. Also, there is no stopper installed, so the drawers will fall out if you pull them out too far. Unfortunately, the wood-on-wood and no-stopper aspects do make the nightstand set feel a bit cheap when I open and close the drawers. But ultimately, given all the other great aspects of these nightstands, I'm fine with it.All in all, I am very happy with this purchase. The nightstands look great, they have enough capacity to store the little that I need to store, and the price was right.I generously gave this table 3 stars because it is all wood, came fully assembled, arrived quickly and doesn't wobble. The table arrived with a 4 inch noticeable scratch on the front leg just below the table top. It has a bead of white which I assume is adhesive running the length of where the legs meet the body and shelf on all sides. I was able to scrape away some of the most built up part of this adhesive with my fingernail, but a soft brush does nothing to help remove it. I tried using wood cleaner sprayed onto a paper towel to see if it came off any easier moistened, but it appears the 7th Generation wood cleaner I have been using for years on the rest of my wood furniture removes the finish because after wiping the adhesive with the dampened paper towel it came back black. In addition to these cosmetic issues the drawers do not have slides and are only supported along the right edge. This causes a wood on wood drag and lateral shifting when the drawers are opened. I would suggest putting some decorative books at the bottom shelves to make it more stable. without added weight it tilts a little bit when putting on the carpet.- the surface are not very polished. I would sand it down more to have a smoother feel. Though there's no visual splinters on nightstand surface, you can feel it catching your skin when you wipe your hand over it. I found this out when i try to clean the minor dust on the nightstand with a towel, the fiber on the towel got caught on the surface.- there's no stopper for the drawer, so if you pull all the way it will fall out.I would not have purchase this if my perception of the size is accurate (I took a tape measure and sort of imagine the size of it). However now that I've already purchase it I think it's worth keeping it as a nightstand or side table for right now until I found something better.These night stands came as described and everything I've read about them in these reviews is accurate. I'm giving them a 4 and not a 5 because there are a few minor blemishes on the surface and chipped paint around one of the drawers (nothing a sharpie can't fix since they are flat black). Confirming previous review facts; they do come fully assembled, they are completely flat (matte) black, the knobs are nailed on, the drawers do not have stoppers, they do have a bit of an initial odor, they are not perfect, they are somewhat light. I like them because they were decently priced ($71 when I bought), they are as tall as the top of my mattress, and I consider them transient bedroom pieces purchased out of current needs. I recommend these to anyone that wants to combine affordability and usefulness or as place holders for a time when you plan to purchase something of a higher quality.We really like the tables (Ordered a set of two), But very disappointed as they came damaged. One of them the corner is completely destroyed. They were poorly packaged and that knobs were all worn down. And there was damage to almost all the corners on the top of the table.Didn't use this, it was too shakey and unstable. Tried to return it but vendor said to discard it.
